Not at all surprising really given there has been some convection on the low over the last 6hrs. coming off very far north though at 16.4N, its going to have to drop latitude to do anything it seems. Very high chance of a recurve with this one I feel.

To comment on something from the other thread, why the hell would Dolly stop this being named? Come on, the NHC aren't going to not name something just because there is another storm.

I don't think Dolly had anything to do with this, the reason it wasn't an invest yesterday because there wasn't really any convection whilst this morning we have much deeper convection with this system compared to before.

Not really there was convection present with it and so they put an invest with it, there was nothing on this invest, nothing at all hence why they waitied till it gained a better presentation before putting an inves ton it...besides whats the rush anyway...mind you Cape Verde does need to watch closely.

An INVEST is declared when the NHC wants to run models. Nothing more, nothing less — any system could technically be an INVEST if the NHC asked for it. Organisation and convection are not what actually determines invest designations.

The map below shows it will soon (if it hasn't already) be moving over SST's below 26C. At this time, I don't see it having much potential. It will probably stay out in the Atlantic too:

Danny in 2003 was a very northern system that was not able to organize until it was already in the subtropics. 97L may have the same destiny.
