Any thoughts about the warming of the day and how it will effect how intense the bands could be.

BTW - I do understand the temp won't be to much higher than it is now.

No bias here ( ) but our local CBS affiliate KFDM 6 with any doubt blew away the other two local TV outlets (if there were any doubts)...

Good job Greg, et al! :notworthy:
BTW: I still don't think A&M will win 7 games this year!

you mean channel 4 knew a storm was coming? that's suprising, but i'm also sure that the forecast from them was "No rain, no wind, just enjoy your day" lol.. channel 12 will always be 2nd, channel 4 3rd, and channel 6 1st.

Well here at Lake Conroe its a nice steady rain. Wind blowing every so often but no gusts.
Sunday with the storm we had pine needles everywhere with Ed maybe 10 have fallen
Lovin' this 75 temp.
Hubby says up in Huntsville "nice steady rain and not alot of wind"

The one thing I am concerned about is the slow movement of Ed as a whole. I've been watching (like everyone else) all morning, and it's just kind of sitting in the same relative place while the bands in the Gulf get stronger. Not a good setup for potential flooding later on...

EWG, I'm pretty sure that billboard got blown down last year during Humberto, not with Ed. Been that way several times since then and I recall seeing that one time and time again.

Yeah, the rain over the Gulf on the east side is much stronger than it was. If it holds together, we could end up with a flooding situation later today. Depending where it goes, of course. The ground wasn't saturated when this started, but by now we've had quite a bit of rain so it's a different story.

Funny you should ask. I just got off the phone with a friend who lives in NW Houston. They have relatives who live right on the water in Clear Lake and would be within a possible storm surge area. So these relatives decided to "evacuate" to my friend's house in the NW Houston area. Not sure that counts. The "evacuating" family does have an infant and a toddler, so that may have prodded them to do more than they would otherwise.

It's pretty close to Lake Houston, might have been under the path of the center. You might be able to see waterspouts on the lake from the tower.

Lake Houston is about 10-15 miles to the East (see Google Maps) of IAH, but the visibility at the time of the waterspout was limited to 2 miles, so I think we're still in search of an explanation...

Thanks Extreme. You'd think with the 2-3,000 Texas posters we have, it wouldn't take someone from Florida to send us shots from a storm that was impacting, yes, Texas. But I appreciate it. All the radars and satellites in the world don't tell the story like a first hand look.

Gracias.

If you want, I'll go outside and take a photo of the light rain, small puddles on the sidewalk, and inch or so of water along the curb. Not much to report, really. I'm not a stormchaser, though, so I'm sure those at the landfall point had some action to report.

jabman98 - I think you have a strong future in television weather reporting!

We've had steady rain, pretty heavy at times under the Bear Creek Dome today. We'll be grateful for the soaking unless Ed's backside gives us a major whack tonight. Still a bit leery about how slowly he's moving out.

Here, maybe these will help those looking for more destruction. Of course these are from Dolly...

Save for areas into the Golden Triangle or even extreme SW Louisiana I'm not sure you're going to see much wind damage in and around the Houston area...

I checked it earlier - but nothing. Then I saw your high-risk, life threatening shot. You might get a Pulitzer for that one. Glad you didn't get hurt.

Haha. No, but there there were probably some feeder bands, and gusts and stuff that were going on that somebody might have captured at some point. Thanks anyway though.
