Sitting in our hospital Incident Command Center in the Medical Center. Pretty quiet at this time. Wife made a trip to Sam's Club to pick up a pizza (she was in the area and we like their pizzas) and she said the place was a MADHOUSE. Thank goodness for Storm2k, we knew about this storm late last week and topped off our preps.

Well, he pulled out that little hand clicker and started clickin away on that case... I asked the other cashier what was he doing...she said, "He's ringing it up. There's 24 bottles." I told her I thought he was joking and she said, "Ma'am, this is no joking matter." Wow. $12 for a case of water. I told them to keep it.

Anyway... it's crazy here. I can't imagine how it is in Houston.

It's still REALLY hot here ad not much of a wind at all. Some clear sky and some pretty clouds.

Once things calm down over there, you might want to contact the Better Business Bureau about that $12 case of water. If that wasn't the usual price, then that's price gouging--- and it's illegal.

Beautiful sky conditions presently in Orange/Bridge City. The stars and moon are bright in a cloudless sky. This won't last long! :P I was pleasantly surprised to find gas at Wal-Mart in Orange at $3.57. Apparently plenty of it. A couple of stations out of gas. Lots of folks filling up the gas cans for generators. Here's hoping that if we need them it will be for a short period of time. Rita and Humberto have done a pretty good job of trimming all of our trees back!

Yeah. I dunno what to think of that. They were charging me for each bottle individually at two for a dollar. I'm not paying that for sure. Got me two cases at Home Depot for $4 each and everybody was nice there.

The sky is still pretty here. My stray doggie has been trying to ease his way inside all day when we open the door, which he never does. I guess he senses something is coming. I gave him a bath incase it gets too bad and I need to bring him in.

And yeah, I was at Wal-Mart in Orange around 12 today and there were cars lined up at the gas thingie and the Wal-Mart parking lot looked like the day after Thanksgiving. Definitely a lot of gas cans getting filled up around here. We don't care if it's just a TS, we're all gun-shy from Rita. Just a few days without electricity here with almost 100 temps and 100% humidity isn't fun.

The leaves are finally starting to rustle here. Otherwise it's been clear, calm, and HOT.

Oh yeah, the lines at gas stations were crazy, my amateur observations have prices jumping twenty cents a gallon since Friday. Grocery stores were packed earlier, but it's tapering off now.

I just looked out the window and the first breezes appear to have arrived on the north end of Galveston Island. Probably a few 20mph gusts from time to time. Definitely nothing to write home about, but it certainly is a significant change from the lighter winds we were seeing earlier today.

It's still DEAD calm in Pearland, 15-30 miles inland depending on how you count it.

It's around 80 degrees here now in Orange County and the sky is clear and stars shining. There is a really nice breeze blowing finally.

At 1:54 a.m., it's 78 degrees here in Beaumont; winds finally picking up from the east at about 15 mph... still clear. Radar shows rain bands approaching Lake Charles, LA. After staying here throughout Rita and her aftermath, I'm not expecting much in comparison. And I'm quite happy about that!

Went to walmart around 630pm and it was sort of crazy. Im on Lake Conroe and really didnt expect it to be busy but I had to wait in line for 30 minutes. All the water, batteries and most of the bread and lunch meat/cheese were gone. I was able to pull right in and fill up with gas. However the Texaco down the street were we live was another story. Three cars deep and becoming a "traffic jam" I gave myself a pat on the back for getting gas at WM :D
Very quiet here, not a leave moving on the trees and the humidity is soooo thick.

We got our first shot of rain about 2:50 my time. It's not very strong at all... not nearly as bad as all the red looks on radar.

It's drizzling right now and I guess it's gonna stay like that for a bit. A few wind gusts would definitly make this more interesting though.

Well at least it started raining. A little. Light rain, 76 F, winds gusting to a hellacious 10 mph. I don't know if we'll make it.
