Probably should have posted this originally here, but in Carteret County. Been pouring off and on all day so far. The roads are ponding. We had a waterspout turn into a tornado just east of where I am. Another doplar reported tornado in the far eastern part of the county. So, pretty decent storms so far.

Although Hanna was fairly far off the coast, I got rain here in Jupiter, FL all night. I was not expecting that at all! Anyway, my yard is just as flooded today (if not more) as it was 10 days ago as Fay crossed Florida. Yikes!!

First real band coming through Pitt County, NC. Torrential downpour right now. Seemed to get warmer and much more humid over the past couple of hours.

Checking in from New Bern (craven County) NC. It's breezy and raining off and on. Nothing bad so far. I drove to and from Greenville, NC (Pitt County) this morning and it was about the same then.

Been raining off and on all day, a little breeze off and on but hubbie keeps asking where it is...haha
Daughter and friends went down to the beach to try to get some pics. People tried to surf earlier but too choppy. Hopefully I will be saying the say thing tomorrow this time.

I am a Redcross DAT Volunteer up here in Portland Maine and I got a call this afternoon that we will be opening up some shelters in the event of flooding. I guess I am going to have a Busy weekend! We are also preparing to send some teams down to Florida to deal with Ike. I will keep you all posted on the developments up this way!

The wind has finally picked up a bit here, I measured 10 mph gusts on the ground, but I can tell from the motion of the trees in my yard the wind is higher 10m off the ground, just not making it all the way down. Pressure has dropped in the past couple of hours, but like the report above from Ogden, we have had very little rain at my location since the downpour some 12 hours ago. The main band that is hammering points west of my location passed just to the south of Ayden on it's way west, and the next large band forming over the sounds will past just to the east. May get some rain when the center passes (which should be very near my location ~10-20 miles.)

New Bern, NC Fairfield Harbour area 5:30 am

Winds have started picking up here. 26mph with gusts in low 40's. Total rain from storm so far is 1.28". For safety will wait till hubby gets up to go the Marina and check on the Neuse River, so will report on it later.

Winds really picking up here in Ayden, measured 22 at the ground, estimate gusts in the low 40's at tree level. Still not much rain. Center will be making it's closest approach for the next hour or so, center is passing over Goldsboro now.
