ATL Tropical Storm Kyle: Recon Discussion

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Sun Sep 21, 2008 8:18 am

Will the RECON plane depart from St. Croix? If so, they would be right there in the storm itself!

If the plane departs at 11 AM,it means it is or at Biloxi,Keesler or Homestead bases.I thought there was a plane in ST Croix.

They're probably making the trip from Keesler before spending the overnight in Antigua, so, not for today's flight but perhaps for tomorrow's POD...

Is the plane going to stay in St. Croix? (thought I read earlier something said about Antigua?)
How much flight time do they have left - I know it took a while to get down here!
They need to go more west. I think it's near enough to PR coast, the mountains are hampering it.

There may not be a well-defined LLC. They haven't sent out a VDM yet.

Possible center at 18.0N 70.0W but it may not be well-defined.

I don't think so. Just light and variable winds over there. And SE winds south of there.

I'll keep watching. I wonder if they will cancel the flight?

The only theory about the lack of data may be that the center is overland and they dont fly to get data overland.Anyway,a NOAA plane is ready to takeoff.

FLIGHT TWO -- NOAA 42
A. RESEARCH
B. NOAA2 04FFA WAVE
C. 23/2000Z
D. NA
E. NA
F. SFC TO 8,000 FT
