Hi, I'm experiencing a similar problem of late. Apparently my IP has been banned from the forums for whatever reason, yet my account is still working perfectly fine. I already sent a message to the admin a couple of days ago but didn't get a reply back.

And yeah, Talking Tropics probably isn't the right place for this thread, so feel free to move it as long as you do something about it. Would be most appreciated.

Normally, the access to S2K works perfectly fine for me, but I have noticed that each time I want to log in from a public hotspot (Telekom), it says "You've been permanently banned from this board" and mentions that the ban is linked to my IP address.

HUC, do you encounter the error message at different PCs / devices / mobiles or only at one?

Folks, this has been reported to the Admins. Give them time to research and address the issue.

I didn't get a message about this, but yesterday, we had a member with the same issue. After I did some research thinking it was IP related and he probably got caught in one of the bans where we banned a range of IPs (spammers), I found no connection. However, I unbanned the IPs that had been banned since he started having trouble and that didn't fix it. Ultimately, he restarted his router and that fixed the problem. This seems like a lot of folks having issues to not be related somehow, but I would at least give that a try in case it's on your end. It's a quick fix if that's all it is.

Please post after you try this so we'll know if you're still having issues. Thanks.

First, I think southerngale meant the message sent by apocalypt-flyer.

Second, try to reset your internet router (pull plug out, wait a few seconds and then plug in again).
Then you will get a new Internet IP, which may allow you to remove the problem.

Sometimes, when there are a lot of spammers here, the admins and moderators try to keep them away by blocking their IP-addresses.
If someone has an IP which is similar to a blocked IP, that might cause problems and error messages will appear.

Yeah a router reboot fixed it for me. It was a bit weird though as no other websites were not working for me.

For the record this is probably the error you are also getting.

Code: Select all

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have received no complaints either except from these actual postings.
Anyway, we are experiencing increased registrations from many regions in Europe and Asia right now. I just looked at where the problems/complaints are occurring and it seems they are all overseas. A lot of the registration requests are coming out of Germany. For now I will stop banning German IP addresses and see if that helps the problem. Also please do the reboots talked about above and see if that helps the problem.

If anyone gets a message like that it's very helpful if we know what your IP address is at the time. Without that information it's very hard to track down the cause of the problem.
