It doesn't look like a bell, just a black dot.

LOL, I know what hes talking about. I never thought it looked like a bell till he said something.

When its orange it means there is new posts you haven't yet read in that topic/thread, and if there is that little dot it means its a topic you have made a post in previously at some point. If its flashing it means its a popular topic and has at least 2 pages.

I always thought it was a circle with a piece of paper in it.........but I dunno.

It's meant to be a piece of paper, I always knew that much. A bell wouldn't make as much sense. Ths shape of it is slightly off from being a bell.
