They also affect the mid latitude storm track once one goes ET. A significant TC going ET adds energy to the mid latitudes, though I am not 100% sure of the precise impact

what constitutes a TC going ET. I just can't grasp that ? is it the temps? the location? yhe conditons ofn e envionment
i'm so scientifically challenged.....

becomes cold core and frontal, with no convection near the center

Derek, your right, but have really noticed that the midshear drops to near nothing north of the islands....

It looks a little better. It shouldn't look better if it is dying, so it's probably not dying. Will keep watching to see if it keeps looking even more better.

Ya its not great is it? I wonder how much of that is outflow from the high. BTW this is banding up pretty nicely on radar.

We just had a nice rain here (enough to close the windows, but barely any wind), with attendant thunder and lightning, but nothing intense and now the thunder sounds very far away for now.

Pressures falling 1 to 2 mb per hour in the British Virgin Islands and the islands of Vieques and Culebra just off the east coast of Puerto Rico. May be somewhat due to convection, but the convection that was heading for Culebra and Vieques basically died before getting there. In any case, pressure is falling several times faster than the typical diurnal falls of 1 mb per 3 hours.

Meanwhile, looks like a mesocyclone is forming on the San Juan radar.

We're getting another lashing with the fringes, hard rain, barely any wind, not hearing thunder at this point, but usually it's lightening up now and it's still pitch dark

Nothing here in Vieques yet. 1 rumble and 1 lightening about 5 minutes ago, otherwise calm.
