I was only partially joking. This pattern of trof in the east and generally cool weather across the northern and northeast U.S. so far this summer may translate into a rather cool fall and cold winter east of the Rockies. But that's a topic for another thread.

Late September weather arrived almost a month early with Westerlies well established across the Northern Gulf by the end of August, and still something managed to sneak under, defying all the odds.

But I'm not too worried this year. El Nino, and a trough setting up near and East of 90 to 95ºW says this is the East Coast's season, if there even really is a season, as the UKMO says we could have as few as three named storms.

Unofficially.

For the record, invest 98L lasted exactly 4 hours,13 minutes. :) I think this is one of the quickest invests in history that lasted that short in time.

Although the missions associated with 98L were scrubbed, I want to point out that Storm2k is representing recon on Twitter.

You can get the latest and greatest updates on recon at http://twitter.com/storm2k_recon

...and all the hottest tropical updates at the usual S2k Twitter: http://twitter.com/storm2k_org

Eh I wouldn't call it a TOTAL waste. It was a good test run. Plus, it has a nice lookin' spin on it now and the outflow is reaching up into southern Canada and Quebec and the storm itself has continued to have a tropical moisture feed straight from the Bahamas/Caribbean.
