Barring the once in a long shot "it only takes one" storm, why even bother with a hurricane season like this if the experts pretty much know ahead of time that very little will ever develop? Kind of like watching the Detroit Lions this year. Why bother? You know they will win 2 games at most.

Curious....
to be honest, I see a general estimate of a season's activity as a negligible part of the tropical cyclone problem. Someone can tease out statistical patterns and probably do a decent job of doing that. Perhaps if we could accurately determine an accurate seasonal probability of landfall, that would be something. But even then, there are so many questions that govern these storms - so many intricacies and peculiarities about individual cyclones that we'll have plenty to keep ourselves busy, at least in the foreseeable future.

2005 was predicted to only be slightly above average if I recall correctly, and 2006 was forecast to be very active (less than 2005 but active). They may get it right this year but as of now I wouldn't say season predictions are infallibly accurate at all.

Doesn't this reflect what I said? Or are you just posting proof?

I watched a loop and don't see much with the Ex, other than some thunderstorms, but I really have limited knowledge as far as what I'm actually looking for. However, while looking at the loop, I saw this, which appears to be west of 95L and in some better shape, other than being minimal in size.

NO, not really, as I was posting about what I was seeing with what is left of Erika. I only pointed out that while looking at a loop of what was Erika, I saw something else and simply asked what it was and gave a relative location.

This a good observation... :) so you can open a new thread about what you see :) that will not bring confusion ?!
Just a suggestion...

:) No, I meant *I* made a post on the wrong forum, I'd meant to post on the local forum for the Caribbean about our weather here...sorry I didn't make that clear!! I thought your observation was interesting...

Remnants reconvecting in shear. I don't see anything redeveloping just yet.

Nothing in the short run, but if there is any energy left in 2-3 days it will be in the Bahamas, where shear forecasts (insert grain of salt) are forecast to be a lot more favorable.

There's some kind of convective minima happening basin-wide including 95L.

Jeez, Erika's becoming predictable in her unpredictability. Lady needs to develop or dissipate!

Look to the northeast coast of Puerto Rico. Erika is that you out there?
