It continues to weaken as the red colors are almost gone.Almost all the system is now off the west coast.Lets see if the power is restored as soon as possible to then let our friends there post the aftermath. Also the stormchasers Jim and Typhoon Hunter information that they haved gathered will be very interesting to see.

I guess I was expecting more from it, hence the seeming frustration... Ah well, another time maybe. As they always say, there's always a next time.)

Haha. you know have a storm chaser's heart. Welcome!

Yeah, that was wishful thinking I guess that they fell asleep. It's a lot more likely that the power went out. We'll have to wait and see. Since the typhoon weakened so much as it passed over Manila I'm very hopeful that everyone survived ok, and that flooding was kept to a minimum due to the relatively quick passage. I'm especially interested to see what Jim and the Hunter got.

Jim and I are safe and sound back at the hotel now.

We hit the road at 5am and the whole region to our south was out of power, we saw numerous power flashes. We headed to the NW shore of Laguna de Bay and saw many communities which were inundated with water from the "storm surge." The locals were fantastic and in good spirits despite their predicament.

Jim and I are working on video and photos now.

I wasn't able to document the full force of the typhoon because it was pretty dark during that time but here's a video of some of the power of mirinae(or what's left of it)...This was taken by a camera phone so the quality is not that good :D

Don't worry gents, it does not appear too bad here... in my case I last posted at past 3 a.m. local, maybe almost 4 pm, so yes I fell asleep. Some time after that we lost power, but it came back an hour ago.

No more rain or wind here. Cable TV got knocked out though. No biggie.

It was apparently pretty bad in other areas:

Parts of Manila, including España Avenue in Sampaloc and parts of Taft Avenue were swamped with floodwaters early Saturday after incessant rains from the typhoon.

In San Juan City, dzBB’s Sam Nielsen reported that floodwaters neared knee-high in Salapan village.

But the power outage in some parts of southern Metro Manila was due to five Meralco posts toppled by winds. The toppled posts at the corner of Buendia and Taft Avenue Extension caused heavy traffic.

In Pasig City, dzRH radio reported power outages at the Manggahan area, with floodwaters reaching to the thighs.

In the Laguna area, near that large lake you see outside Laguna... the areas around still are flooded from the rains a month back. Apparently it is pretty bad there, with people being forced to go back to their roof tops, but the news reports are still sketchy.

And apparently a twister struck Ternate, Cavite while the typhoon was raging.

A strong twister swept through a village in Cavite, while the provinces was being pounded by typhoon Santi (international name Mirinae) on Saturday, damaging at least 50 houses.

Dante Mendoza, village chief of Barangay San Jose in Tarnate town, said the affected villagers have been evacuated and several injured people have been brought to hospital.

finally, we've made it! :) i'm glad that the damage caused by mirinae here in quezon city wasn't that bad. i made a check in the streets a while ago, and there are some trees uprooted. there's a power interruption, but it only lasted for an hour ;) the banging windows woke me up at 5am, and the peak of the winds (based on my observation) is at 6am local time, because the trees almost bent into the ground with the strong gusts of wind. however, i can say that milenyo/xangsane's winds are much stronger compared to this...

how about the others? i wish nothing serious happened.

haha. the sun suddenly appeared here :) i just want to share what's on my mind.

milenyo was classified as a tropical storm (110kph) by our local weather agency when it made landfall over south ncr, still, the winds are so strong and it is continuous, blowing up large trees, electric posts, and the giant billboards. now, i am 300% certain that our local weather bureau PAGASA has problems in determining a cyclone's intensity. santi (mirinae) is still classified as a typhoon (130kph) as it crosses southern luzon, but if you compare santi and milenyo's wind strength, milenyo definitely outclasses santi. i hope pagasa will do something about this. what they did to milenyo was really unacceptable.
