Danielle has definitely peaked. Intensity probably down to 100 kt now due to the ERC. (I would have put the peak intensity at 110 kt based on Recon). Pressure up a little bit to 950mb or so. The outer eyewall is 60 nautical miles wide - watch for a pressure mismatch after that...

Not only an amazing shot of Danielle, but an incredible site overall...astronaut poet! (and the power of twitter used in a brilliant way). Thanks for the link!

Sure looks a west jog, but I know it can be deceiving.

Our girl is back down to a 2 again and Bermuda should be in the clear except for some winds and surf.

Danielle has an eastward motion in the last few frames. Great job by the NHC (and the other pros around here) forecasting the re-curve. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with Earl and 97L, especially since i'll be visiting the upper texas coast for 7 days starting wednesday. I'm still longing for the day that I get to feel some powerful tropical winds.

Well looks like its finally starting to the recurve pattern...and I can tell you I feel mighty happy to see it recurve after putting my flag to the recurve mast right from the get-go!

Besides I think Danielle put on a fine show for us!

I won't argue as long as it stays out to sea and causes no damage.

What's with the sharp left turn to the north on the graphic at the top of these pages around the term "Cat 5"? Model glitch? End of model run?

I don't think I've ever seen NRL referenced in a discussion before... until now.

Danielle does look like its weakening but will remain probably a hurricane for a little while yet, so whilst Danielle is past its peak we aren't quite totally done with this one yet.

is it possible she is going through erc? And if so, once she is through with that, won't she probably intensify again?

Oh, its for sure going through an erc. But no it probably wont strengthen again afterwards because its moving into increasingly hostile conditions, with increasing shear and cooler waters.

Cooler waters will prevent Danielle to intensify again.
