It won't be 55kts for very long Crazy given its current apperence, NHC probably won't bother going any higher then they already are given its probably about to weaken again.

If my eyes are not tricking me it seems that convection is developing again near the center, it wouldn't be a rare occurence this season as Danielle and Earl centers were exposed for a moment of their lives.

Fiona is really trying to keep itself going even though conditions are clearly terrible for it at the moment.

Is Fiona history now then? Or do we still have to worry about her? Anyone have anything new? Thanks so much.

Not likely to be a risk to anyone now, in theory could track close to Bermuda but expected to be weak.

Recon though did find evidence of banding occuring still and a clear region around 12NM which means this system probably isn't quite done just yet either...

That little vortex which was Fiona's center has been racing NW at 22-25 kts. I think Fiona is dying. Dying storms frequently spit out a small vortex as they open up into a wave.

Thanks very much guys for all you do! Would be nice to think we can rest on one of these nasties and say bye bye. How much longer before NHC gives up on Fee? Maybe by 11?

With no convection, it's hard to believe those stronger winds are reaching the surface. Let's hope Fiona is gone by morning so we can focus on the real threats out there.

Yeah I'd be amazed if we are even getting 45kts to the surface yet alone 50kts. Still recon justifies holding this storm for now though a stronger Fiona would have reduced Gaston's risk down the line...doesn't look like thats going to come off now though.

I know in St. MArtin today they said they saw hardly anything from Fiona, fortunately.

Has there ever been a more pathetic 60 mph storm?

Fiona could die anytime soon, IMO.

Well according to the latest discussion, the NHC is a little bit more optimistic, saying it could stay just outside of the highest shear zone throughout its forecast period. They even mention the possibility of - shock! - strengthening in the vicinity of Bermuda!

Yeah its quite possible this one survives, generally when a system is still able to produce weak convection in this sort of set-up it can't get much worse and thus they tend to survive just about, like a living zombie almost.
