Brighter colors mean colder cloud tops. Colder cloud tops correspond to thunderstorm activity.

Fiona's center will pass very close to Bermuda. Here is the radar from that island.

I looked for it, but didn't see the black/white [cold] color in Earl.

A guy on the Weather Channel standing on a windy beach said
the wind was unusually cold for a hurricane.

Well black/white isn't always the color for the coldest tops.

Fiona is waxing as Earl wanes... like a transfer of energy.

Looks like Fiona is decoupled with the LLC moving off to the north and the MLC under the deep convection to the south. Could be interesting if the convection hangs around and a new LLC forms down the road.

You have to be kidding. This is a TS and Gaston is a remnant low? Must be because of its proximity to Bermuda, that's all I could think of. Recon indicated 20-30 kts through the area, and that's not much more above normal winds in that area. Just a naked swirl of nothingness that's moving into increasingly stronger shear.

I think the NHC will downgrade to TD in a half hour. Well, perhaps they won't and wait to see if Fiona refires convection, but I think its a TD right around now.

The winds support a 35 kt TS but nothing more. Remnant low by tonight at this rate unless it refires.

Yesterday on another forum someone said there would be a split
and one part would move towards Cuba. He seemed to think a
split like that would be unusual... is it ?

Some global models move a little bit of vorticity in the upper levels southwestward toward the Caribbean, but it won't amount to anything.
