You know, simply linking to the NRL homepage every time a new invest comes up is just silly, it'd be better to post an image of the new invest, or an NWS discussion, or maps, or something. Something more than just a link to NRL and "we have a new invest". Just saying.

To be fair, there are no active image links on NRL. I had to click on the KML file for the following:
Tropical Cyclone 99W

05 Sep 2010 0000Z
Location: 29.5 126.7
Winds: 15 knots
Central Pressure: NA hPa

which does not really make any sense given Malou's 00Z position of 28.3N 124.7E.

Unless the JTWC somehow believes a new circulation has developed in Malou's convection that's a separate entity...

Unlikely that such an area would develop, but maybe they're doing it for ITOP? Today's discussion:
ITOP_2010 Operations Plan of the Day

Date of report(UTC): 2010/09/04 23:51
Author of report: Pat Harr
Submitted at: 2010/09/04 23:55
Operations Summary:
ITOP14 and ITOP15 have nearly merged as ITOP15 becomes the dominant circulation. The entire circulation is still TS Malau and is northwest of Okinawa. No flight operations are planned until 8 September at the earliest. This mission will likely be designed to investigate an interesting ocean eddy field or the internal tides in the area of the western North Pacific. The mission will be designed around use of AXBT sampling of the feature of interest.
