From staff reports
Tuesday September 7, 2010

Just saw some live feed from Dallas on our local news. Currently in Arlington, TX rescues at an apartment complex are underway from the second floor and roofs due to severe flooding. We have members in Arlington. I hope all are safe.

Just saw a live broadcast of one heck of a wall cloud over South Dallas with reports of a touchdown. Does anyone have reports of this and any damage?

here is all I can find right now-
http://weatherblog.dallasnews.com/archi ... ounty.html
they are bloggin live about it. Seems it touched down in south Dallas near the Trinity River as well as one possibly in Highland Park.

one report form the live blogging -
Mede Nix/Editor: From Dianne Solis, who's also in the Mockingbird/West Irving Boulevard area.
Carlos Mata was just arriving at work at Mockingbird Adult Video in the 650 block of West Mockingbird Blvd. when he heard an eruption of wind and noise.
"The tornado was coming at us," Mata said as sirens blared and the lights of fire trucks and ambulances winked red and blue "I thought it was going to entomb us it was so strong. I thought of God. I was in such a hurry, though, but I started to pray."

At least three buildings along the block were hit by the tornado, including American Power Brake & Clutch. The twister tore off the business' metal door, folding it like an accordion.

Oncor emergency workers used a hydraulic lift to elevate a worker so he could repair damaged power lines. The darkened street was partially flooded with water.

Wednesday September 8, 2010 7:26 Mede Nix/Editor

Mike Drago/editor: From Roy Appleton:
This from reporter Roy Appleton, who's in West Dallas ...

At the Southern Tire Mart, near Mockingbird Lane and Irving Boulevard, three telephone poles were snapped, and one was precariously embedded in the company's sign. Windows were blown out, and several surrounding trees were downed. A few doors down on Mockingbird, an 18-wheeler crashed into the front of a building, causing extensive damage.

A search-and-rescue team from Dallas Fire-Rescue was preparing to enter the building shortly after 7 p.m.

The driver of the truck, for Beaver Express, was taken away in an ambulance and appeared to be in good shape, witnesses said.

The driver was on his way to do a pick up, said Tom Siegley, terminal manager for Beaver Express. The injured man was able to talk to a fellow employee after he was injured.

"He said the tornado came by and he thought the truck was going to get sucked up. He was scared to death," Siegley said.

Mede Nix/Editor: Reporter Brandon Formby has been traveling the streets of Oak Cliff, and the small city of Cockrell Hill. He reports that although it appeared the tornado moved through the area, he found no damage. It appears most of the damage in Dallas was concentrated in the Mockingbird/Irving Boulevard area.
Wednesday September 8, 2010 7:31 Mede Nix/Editor
7:32 [Comment From Mike Mike: ]
Roy should have reported that the front of a building crashed into the 18-wheeler, not the other way around.

David Lara, 21, was fishing at a pond near the Trinity River on Mockingbird when he saw the tornado.

"It went up the hill then it was cut off. It came down on the other side of the bridge. I called my father and told him the tornado is on the way, coming towards his house. I don't think he believed me," Lara said.

On West Mockingbird Avenue at the intersection of Irving Boulevard, law enforcement cut off access to the bridge. Ambulances and police covered the entrance with flashing red and blue lights.
