There are reports that a few people died in mudslides. I will try to get more information on Sunday.

thanks for finding that Luis. Two storms out there that have brought on deaths. I heard there was a woman in Puerto Rico that died from Igor as well, and they are searching for a boy in St. Croix.

Since I am not sure where to ask this at, but why isn't that 40% Low in the EPAC not an Invest yet and is it from the remnants of Karl?

I believe it would be the remnants of Karl? But it would get a new name as Karl certainly did not keep a circulation across the mountains.

I am so sad to hear that. I knew of only 2, which were 2 too many already.
Our prayers go out to all affected by KArl.

Really? Wow, I didn't think it'd be that high.

So... potential for retirement?

I'm thinking that will be the case, second name this year to have a strong case, joining Alex.

I doubt Earl or Igor will be retired though.

I'm talking about relevancy to land areas. The rest of the named systems haven't done much except for Hermine. Almost forgot about her, she came and went too fast!!!

I wouldn't be too sure on Earl yet: its damage was on islands, so unless the devastation on the islands was major, it'll likely stay put. At this pace, Igor may be kept as well. Alex and Karl, if the damage and death tolls stand, are gone. Personally, the names I see at this point going for this year are Alex, Karl, Agatha, and if a solid link can be built between it and the damage, Frank.

Is PAC 96E related to this at all?

It is a logical possibility... depending on the path of the ex-depression and the re-emergence of convection within the northern reach of the ITCZ. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of some moisture associated with I96E to remnants of Karl.

Crossovers have happened before on several occasions.

I'm watching the mexican news and they say Karl has been the worst disaster in Veracruz, fortunately the death toll is not too high but the number of people affected and the damages (more or less US$5 billion) are the highest in the history of that state.

If the damage is $5B, I'd say Karl probably gets retired.
