Gert is just far enough east to not really give Bermuda any effects from the look of the radar.

If Gert does not become a Hurricane, we'll stand at 7/0/0, which has never happened since records began in 1851. Just throwing that out there.

I've seen that Gert could possibly reach winds of 70 mph. Is there an outside chance it becomes a hurricane?

I did think it had a chance earlier today but it hasn't quite been able to wrap itself up just yet totally as per the NHC discussion.

Yeah, I think its window of opportunity is closing...unless it can get its act together quickly. It looks a bit more ragged than earlier. NHC has a 22% probability of it becoming a hurricane right now.

Oh-for-seven appears to be pretty much wrapped up unless it really gets together in a hurry...it isn't vertically stacked and is running out of warm water quickly.

EPAC will be 5/5/3.

This is wild.

Looks like it'll be up to Harvey now.

Back in 2003, the EPAC didn't get its first hurricane until Ignacio. Interestingly, after the first 8 storms failed to reach hurricane strength, 7 of the next 8 storms became hurricanes.

This season is already historic in the fact that the Atlantic has never before seen the first 7 storms not reach hurricane strength.
