Ten offshore workers, including four from Louisiana, have been missing since Thursday, Sept 8. They had to evacuate their liftboat because of rough conditions caused by Nate:

Thanks everyone for your work with the recon missions this weekend. I had outside duties to take care of through EMA & the 911 memorials in a couple locations...why I disappeared for 2 days. We here at S2K appreciate the all the effort you've put into these missions and I for one would like to thank each one of you personally...job's well done!

Exactly. And Maria too. I'd wager it has something to do with the macro-pattern associated with the drought dome over Texas.

I said in May that the favorable conditions didn't necessarily translate into guaranteed hurricanes.


I read something of that nature from Jeff Masters last year with the Russian Heat Wave and Pakistan Flood.
