97L got cannibalized by both 98L and the monsoon depression over Africa (Pouch P30L). On METSAT high-res (15-minute) imagery you can really see the CU lines where 97L used to be getting pulled into P30L. I suspect P30L, which the models have been keen on, will spin up pretty rapidly over the east Atlantic and take off to the NW as advertised.
