Just needs to maintain itself a little longer to get that official T#8.0 upgrade it rightfully deserves.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I am by no means a professional. DO NOT look at my forecasts for official information or make decisions based on what I post.

Goal: to become a registered expert over tropical and subtropical cyclones.

06z was revised to 140 kt, which I think is still too low regarding how it was looking at that time. Probably would go 150 kt and then 160-165 kt at 12z when it really looked it’s best.

Despite the T8.0 vibe from many places (RJTD, KNES, and CIMSS-ADT), I personally strongly doubt it has ever reached actual T8.0/170kt. One reason would be that Surigae's life-long semi-concentric/concentric eyewall structure that can seriously affect its intensity. The other would be that Surigae has never reached a T8.0 on a traditional standardized Dvorak scale. Moreover, SATCON and AMSU tend to exaggerate the intensity if the storm has concentric eyewall structure.

That’s how JMA didn’t analyse it fully 8.0 and estimated 120 knots, just like how Goni was estimated.
