subtropical storm by New Zealand

#1 Postby Alyono » Mon Jun 11, 2018 2:20 pm

some talk about this on the tropical storms mailing list. Himiwari is showing an interesting system bringing gale force winds to New Zealand. Nobody is issuing advisories on this, however as subtropical storms are not warned upon in this part of the world

Impressive swirl of rain around the low as it moves onshore. Watch the radar yourself on http://bit.ly/BayOfPlentyRadar … ^TA

The low moved over NZ should be a good snow producer in the current winter season.

Two more troughs trail the NZ low both will likely also wrap into decent ull's. Normal winter
pattern (SAM)

Just outta personal interest in the sam (ski interest). The tasman low is forming and will track
to nz if the ec ens verify. More rain and storm force winds and big seas @10ometres are likely.. Another nice deep cyclone later on also s of perth is of interest if the ridge can clear
out.

http://www.janebunn.net/snow-forecast
Updated: Friday 15th June 2018, 8:00am.

The snow continues for Friday and the weekend.

A deep low lies to the south of Tasmania and will slowly move to the Tasman Sea on the weekend. This continues to push cold front's over the southeast.

Snow falls to 1200 metres on Friday morning and lowers to 900 metres for the rest of Friday and the weekend.

Its persistent snow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Southern resorts see the most on Sunday. There is 20 to 40 cm of snow still to come for northern resorts.

The next high moves through on Tuesday, bringing a return to dry conditions. The high sits just to the east for the rest of the week, stopping cold fronts from moving through. The alps are dry from Tuesday to next Friday.
