Does that mean it will upgraded to 65-70mph in the next advisory?

Does anyone have any idea why recon is flying around in the Gulf near 26N 86W?

They're at the lowest operational altitude, so they're definitely looking at something ...

AF 309 has taken off en route for the 15z fix. If no one starts posting HDOBs by the time it gets near the system I will. Right now it would just be a waste of time IMO.

For anyone posting graphics... If, or rather when, the Google Earth system misses recon data, you can add it in here:
http://www.tropicalatlantic.com/recon/addobservation/
I know it might be a pain, but my site can only update every minute and with two AF planes out there (one is dropping AXBTs, buoys), sometimes data from one plane is overwritten before my site can get it. (I'll be asleep, so I will not be around to add the data in.)

RL I'm up and on...waiting for the first obs to come in from 309 and will take this run....thanks for all your help while I was down and out appreciate everything everyone's done!

I see AF 306 is on a buoy run....sampling the GOM.

AF 309's is 161 miles WSW of Tampa at this time.

*Edit: On a sampling mission all data from the sondes are fed into an upcoming model. Which model is up to the agency & the NHC as to which time it is included. As far as the regular recon missions all hdobs are also fed into the models once the plane is at the operational altitude. Also, there are times when a mission is flown and but the hdobs are not given out to the public...that is a call made by the NHC so you may see where a plane has taken off but no obs are shown.

We don't post the sampling missons nor the GIV obs on the recon thread, we stay with the USAF & NOAA 2 missions only. If w we tried to do the sampling drops people would become lost because of the 25 or more drops made by those planes...the thread would get very confusing as I'm sure you'all understand.

Ok waiting now for the next flight to start sending hdobs. The only thing coming in at this point in time is the 306 flight that's dropping the sondes in the GOM.

Again, flights in green are complete, orange are in-progress, and black are up-coming:

The next fix mission should be inside Isaac around 1500Z or thereabouts.

Af 306's sampling run is still the only ones coming through at this time Andrew, AF 309's in the air but not at the storm yet. Waiting to see if they switch off to 309 soon or not.

Unfortunately both planes are posting at the exact same minute to the file, so I am having to add the data for AF309 manually when it appears in the recon archive.

NHC HDOB archive:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/recon/2012/AHONT1/

And then on my site for AF309:

I know Chris, both are sending at once...ok will pull 309 out of the archives for now.

We're pulling hdobs out of the archives at this point but they run between 1 to 5 minutes after they are sent so delays are in place nothing can be done about that part.

Edit: Looks like hdobs are now starting to come in on the main site now.....then again...
