The NHC can be conservative for 90L as it is no threat to land anytime soon. If it was in 91L's position and the same structure, they would have to initiate advisories ASAP as warnings would be needed.

Doesn't matter, if something qualifies as a TD or TS; it should be labeled as soon as possible, for the sake of historical accuracy.

Exactly, just because it isn't affecting people does not mean that the NHC will discontinue monitoring it. If it does not hit land, and the NHC does not monitor it, then it breaks a record set by another earlier tropical cyclone, they will be held responsible and will have to receive intense criticism from the public.

I honestly didn't see that one coming..figured they would wait until 2 for an update. We'll see how well she makes the trek across the big ocean..

They made an update not upgrading to TD at 11 PM.

Gotcha..I was wondering why they would jump since it is so far away from affecting anyone..

However, I do think it looks pretty good and will be a TD soon (if not straight to TS depending on when they jump..).

To me, it is apparent this is a TC. The fact it isn't effecting anyone shouldn't matter since a TC is a TC, no matter how big, small, or the location.

They could always find things like that in post analysis (and therefore reclassify) if needed.

The BAMS suite are the only models showing it recurving...

If it intensifies, it'll probably go out to sea.

Doesn't look like a fish to me. Might be a potential player for the Caribbean islands and Eastern Seaboard, or perhaps Bermuda. Interesting season here, kinda reminds me of some other active seasons like 2004. When will El Nino hit? If you had to ask me and I didn't know any better, i'd say that looks like neutral conditions no where near El Nino.

well technically we are neutral and or a super weak EL Nino....not much difference..
