There's nothing to indicate that this even has a chance of happening, if you're implying the possibility of it heading towards the East Coast.

http://manati.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/asca ... Bas111.png could be some 50-60 mph winds in there now

I don't think the people in the Islands or on the northern Gulf coast are especially interested in surprises or ACE numbers.

Kirk is above the islands and forecast to recurve well before Bermuda. I think by surprise Buck meant intensity ... a nice strong recurver to harmlessly build some ace numbers.

Well, we are in the thread for Tropical Storm Kirk, a storm in the open Atlantic... so I wasn't talking about people in the Islands or Northern Gulf Coast. There is no sense in trying to project guilt on anyone.

Yes, thank you, tolakram.

Burst of convection going over the center. Storm is likely stronger based on satellite.

looks pretty solid on satellite however, current ADT numbers dont show anything spectacular, however that 20-30 lat belt in the central atlantic has been pretty favorable for development up to this point in the season, and there does not appear to be too many hostile conditions in the near future for this sytem.

Forecast brings it to 80 mph in a few days, yet again outside of the tropics.

We may have Hurricane Kirk tomorrow:

The classic cyan ring. Often a precursor to an eyewall.

Why is Kirk so tiny? I'd love to see a hurricane that's this small - it would be really interesting too see Kirk attain hurricane status, and at the same time keeping its small, rounded and well-defined structure.
