1) Ginger, 1971: 21.25 named storm days
2) Carrie, 1957: 19.5 named storm days
3) Alberto, 2000: 19.25 named storm days
4) Nadine, 2012: 17.0 named storm days

The all-time record is held by the San Ciriaco Hurricane of 1899, which had 28 named storm days.

:uarrow: Wow! thanks buddy. Looks like Nadine will easily grab the #2 spot and has a pretty good shot at number 1. Very historical in the middle of a very quiet September.

Meaning 22 days, or 29? I'm thinking either is possible.

17 days now with NHC still showing a 5 day track puts it at 22, but I'm not sure anybody has answered a key question. Since it dropped out for a day or so, will NHC consider this a continuous event? Is the fact that they continued the Advisory numbering instead of starting over the answer to that question?

22 days. I should have clarified, thanks. That 29 is pretty untouchable for Nadine I would think. The next storm to break that would most likely have to be another Cape Verde type like San Ciriaco that goes all the way across the Atlantic as a full TC, slowly recurves, and then does one or more stallouts.

If latest model runs verify, Nadine will have no problem surpassing Ginger...132 hours out, Nadine would be up to 22.5 named storm days...and counting...

She will likely be ET by that time, probably around 120hrs.

If some of those models are accurate, Europe may have a problem down the road...

Strongest she's been so far in wind speeds. At advisory number 70 and we can clearly see the NHC is getting tired of it.

Hurricane Nadine might be nearing Category 2 strength, and an eye is appearing.

I think NHC is having fun with her. There really isn't much else to do in what should be the peak of the season. Now, if there were 2 or 3 other storms out there, they might be more annoyed.

And hey, if she can break some records in the process ......
