A 45kt wind at this buoy at 9:30 am. Probably Thunderstorms but that it still something to watch for with these storms as they roll in off the Gulf.

I just looked at the visible satellite loop and the low over SE Texas is very impressive. I don't know if it will make to the gulf though.

That's the upper-level low you're seeing over Texas. The weak frontal low is over SW Louisiana now. No chance of tropical development whatsoever.

We get that all the time down here. It is just rain. Kinda overstating it with "serious punch" aren't you? Something JB would say or Fox News, or are they the same thing?
