Probably that too, while the winds at 700mb still held up well. Given all the data, 90 kt seems appropriate right now.

So wait...Sandy crossed both Jamaica and Cuba, and flight level winds have done nothing but climbed? Really? What universe is this, again?

So I see no one has been able to answer the question as to why the FL winds are so high. For the record, I've never seen this happen before. I don't think its phasing yet.

Ouch, that happened to me a few months ago with the scroll-wheel. Now the left click doesn't work well either :x .

I think the upper levels were not disrupted over Cuba and strengthened a bit more, but the surface circulation was disrupted somewhat. Also there may be signs of some baroclinic interaction.

Images are fine, although if I stop posting (have to leave at any time due to classes), feel free to take over.

NW quad, which was seriously disrupted in Cuba. The east side of the storm remained well intact, but the NW quad has weak winds.

They've dropped a bunch of sondes today...now why couldn't we have gotten that last night as Sandy approached Cuba?
