Introducing Storm2k's Advanced Interactive Tropical Center!

We would like to take a minute to present to you Storm2k's New Advanced Tropical Center!

When you first arive to the Tropical Center you will see many different options. At the top of the page you will see links to further pages such as Active Tropical Systems, Tropical Season Archive, Monthly Summary, Basin Outlooks, Basin Discussions, Sea Surface Temps, & Satellite..


    Active Tropical Systems Section
This page/section will show you an overview map of the active systems and invests. The map is clickable and you can click on any of they systems and it will take you to the storm specific page. If you scroll below the active storms map you will also see the active storms in text form giving its position and strength. Once you are on the storm specific page you are presented with many more options. You will have a drop down box located on both the top left and top right of the map. The box to the top left is for Text Products. If it is an actually active system (not an invest) this is where the storm advisorys will be. The drop down box to the top right is used to display more of the specific storm maps. For an invest the maps available will be: System Track, Forecast Models, and Satellite. For storms that are TD or higher the options will be: System Track, Forecast Track, Models, Windfield Track, Current Windfield, 12ft Seas. The Model Track and Forecast Track maps specificaly are desinged to allow mouse overs. If you put your mouse over the track points it will display the estimated positon and Strength of storm at that point in the track. Below each map you will also see options for Zoom level. Your chioces are: Basin, 1, & 2. Basin will be the full basin view, zoom 1 will step in closer to the area the storm is, and zoom 2 will get right on top of the system.
Basins Supported: Atlantic, East Pacific, Central Pacific

    Tropical Season Archive
This page/section will show you the tropical season archive. Upon arriving to the page it will default to the 2007 Archive page and map. If you scroll down below the map it will give you all the archived storms for that year. You can think click on the specific storm you wish to inquire about and it will take you to that Specific archived storms page. To go to a different Tropical Archive year use the drop down box above the top right of the map
Basins Supported: Atlantic, East Pacific, Central Pacific

    Monthly Summary
This page/section will display the current monthly summary from the NOAA & every month from the start of the season. You also have the option, on that same page, to view the monthly summaries for past hurricane seasons.
Basins Supported: Atlantic, East Pacific, Central Pacific

    Basin Outlook
This section will display in real time the Oulook for the specific Basins. (5:30am, 11am, 5:30pm, 11pm)
Basins Supported: Atlantic, East Pacific, Central Pacific

    Basin Discussion
This section will display in real time the Discussion for the specific Basins.
Basins Supported: Atlantic, East Pacific, Central Pacific

    Sea Surface Temps
This section/page displays Sea Surface Temp maps, both still and animated.
Basins Supported: Atlantic, East Pacific, Central Pacific

    Satellite
This section/page displays various NOAA Satellites for the tropics. Controlls for these maps are located above the maps.
Basins Supported: Atlantic, East Pacific, Central Pacific

Just checked it out and man, it is awesome! Great job Chad and thank you to whoever else worked on this ... just another reason why S2K is the best weather forum in the world!! :D

Oh how wonderful! Great job chad! I have one suggestion. The mouse over on the hurricane categories on the 4 and 5 pop open too far to the right for me to see all the text. I even scooted my page over and tried to widen it to read the text but still could not make it work. Can you make them mouse over so the box appears to the left on those last two?
