You can see the center clearly, FWIW, here in this velocity mode of the radar:

http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?prod ... P&loop=yes

Look where the grey colors and reddish colors meet with the greens, all representing changing wind directions and velocities. He is just offshore and kinda wobble-stalling before picking back up his main NW trek. Zoom and speed up the radar to see it well. This is just IMO!

Thank you for the link! It is much easier to see the center on that radar. One of these days, I will have to put in some time learning how to interpret all those raw satellite and radar images.

Looks like rush hour tonight into overnight and tomorrow morning are going to be bad for flooding in the Houston area and to the west of Houston. Not sure what the slowdown/stall is going to do. Keep the rain sitting on top of us? Ugh.

Whoever guessed Matagorda Island is the one that got the landfall right!

Looks like some heavy training bands are setting up shop over Houston. Not good IMO.

Houston area looks to me like they'll be very wet the next couple days> I don't see Bill getting much farther west and he has slowed down a little with forward speed down to 9 mph.

I think the NHC is being a little generous with the motion. Probably want to make sure it is not going to start moving faster before they say it is slower. If that makes any sense :?:

So that steering current map isnt very encouraging.... Its sensing out the trough vs pushed poleward by the High out east. Is the high expected to build westward?

It's all academic but did Bill go in left of the NHC cone?
