One thing to consider is the location of this buoy? How far was it from the eye? Hopefully we can get more details on that.

Even a few miles away can mean a big difference.

When its all said and done its likely JTWC estimates will hold solid.

According to this blog entry, the barometer of the buoy that recorded the 897 mb pressure has been calibrated. The data has been corrected to 911.5 mb.

Lowest pressure recorded by automated weather stations near the landfall location was around 940 mb according to CWB.
