Damage amounts are out. Wikipedia states that Earl caused at least $50 million USD.

That number won't likely lead to retirement, but the human toll might. Heard the death toll is up to 45 now.

not going to be retired. usually takes a larger number to get a retirement in this part of the world.

Matthew killed 125+ in 2010 and was not retired

I think Ernesto '12 is an ok analog system for Earl (except less intense).
