A monsoon disturbance in the southwest South China Sea has been declared Invest 98W. Development prospects don't look overly favorable, but there is an outside chance that it could end up joining Kyant in the Bay of Bengal.

The remnants of 98W are now in the eastern Bay of Bengal.
