No disrespect to anyone in bad situation but sometimes during those times you need to laugh a little.

It is funny, but everywhere you went yesterday afternoon and even throughout the morning mowers were going. Not for Jim Cantore but so that you can see what's slithering around in flood waters.................and the fact that it won't be dry enough again for a few weeks to mow again.

Tried to tell my husband that. Now he will a foot high grass to mow. Thank goodness I don't mow grass anymore.

The 00Z KLCH sounding features a saturated profile almost up to 500 mb with a little drier air above that. With the saturated, near moist adiabatic profile extending all the way below freezing level, warm rain processes are likely the main rainfall driver. This is further backed up with high correlation coefficients and moderately high KDPs from radar. Decent helicities also still exist here and on the KLIX sounding, maintaining at least some threat for tornadoes.

Checking in from Port Arthur. Conditions have been deteriorating steadily over the past couple of hours. Looks like it's going to be a long, windy, and wet night.

There's been 7 inches in some parts of southern Jefferson County and more areas in the 5-6" range per PYQL3 radar estimates. I don't know how accurate it is, but it has been POURING and still coming down.

MESOSCALE PRECIPITATION DISCUSSION 0357
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
917 PM EDT WED JUN 21 2017

AREAS AFFECTED...EXT SOUTHEAST TX...SOUTHWEST LA

CONCERNING...HEAVY RAINFALL...FLASH FLOODING LIKELY

VALID 220115Z - 220600Z

SUMMARY...NORTH/SOUTH DEFORMATION ZONE NEAR SABINE RIVER CURRENTLY
FORMING AND LIKELY TO REMAIN A FAIRLY STATIONARY FORCING FOCUS
ALLOWING FOR COMPOUNDING HEAVY RAINFALL AND LIKELY FLASH FLOODING
CONDITIONS THROUGH EARLY OVERNIGHT HOURS.

DISCUSSION...LAST GOES-16 VISIBLE IMAGERY AND EARLY OVERNIGHT SWIR
(3.9UM) CONTINUES TO SHOW PARTIALLY EXPOSED INNER CORE OF TS
CINDY. OVERALL THE INNER CORE HAS BEGUN TO CONSOLIDATE/TIGHTEN THE
INNER CORE. WV AMVS SUGGEST 40KT 3H EVACUATION JET OVER CENTRAL
LA WITH THE MAIN INNER CORE OF THE 5H VORT CENTER ROTATING
NORTHWARD AS WELL PROVIDING DPVA ALLOWING FOR SURFACE PRESSURE
FALLS ELONGATING THE TROF TO THE NORTH ALONG THE SABINE RIVER.
THIS PROVIDES A STRONG LOW LEVEL BOUNDARY FOR ISENTROPIC ASCENT ON
PERSISTENT 35-40KT 85H WINDS TO MAINTAIN DEEP CONVECTION WITH
LIMITED FORWARD MOTION (DEVELOPING DEFORMATION ZONE). AS SUCH
MASS PILING AND MST CONVERGENCE WILL SUPPORT TPWS OVER 2.5" WITH
RATES UP TO 2.5"/HR. GIVEN THE STRENGTHENING OF THE DEFORMATION
ZONE...THE FORCING/ASCENT IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN FAIRLY STATIONARY
LEADING TO THE POTENTIAL FOR 3-5" OF RAIN OVER THE NEXT 4-6 HRS
EXPECTED MOSTLY IN JEFFERSON COUNTY TX...ESPECIALLY IF DEVELOPING
NORTHWARD ROTATING BANDS BEGIN TO FILL IN AND CONVERGE. QUITE A
FEW HI-RES CAMS SUPPORT THIS EVOLUTION TO ALLOW FOR FAIRLY HIGH
TOTALS PARTICULARLY RECENT HRRR/HRRRX AND NSSL-WRF. THOUGH FFG
VALUES ARE HIGHER...THESE TOTALS WILL LIKELY EXCEED THEM LEADING
TO FLASH FLOODING AFTER 03Z.

Don't think it'll be too bad there. Local mets indicated that I-45 would generally be a line where east of it would get the worst of it and west of it wouldn't see all that much. You can pretty much see that happening when you look at the radar. A little bit further north and west [EDIT: GAH, It's north and EAST], like Polk County, things will probably be worse. Depends exactly where your family lives but The Woodlands proper is closer to I-45 and west of it.

It looks really heavy on radar. Stay safe!

We've barely had anything here in Houston. A band in the early evening and that's about it.

I've been too busy in the weather lab today making graphics and doing broadcast practice to post much. Using this as an opportunity to learn in real time.
