Miramar Bch here and getting concerned now. I may have to get my RV outta here in the morning, this trend both intensity and east of forecast track is giving me gas.

Hey neighbor, Santa Rosa county here, Pace. Just to the east of Pensacola . Stay safe over there.

I fear East Bay will have a significant surge impact. Storm is making landfall around high tide. Be safe! Any plans to evac?

No plans to evacuate, we made it through Ivan , Dennis, opal, etc ok. Think we will be ok..hope so anyway. Good thing is the forward speed...should hit, (wherever that may be) and get outta dodge pretty quick. We lose power at the drop of a hat though. Not looking forwArd to that. Lots of foliage gonna be scattered though, lotsss of trees on property. Good luck to all in path.

I was thinking that with this small cone that it has to be nerve wracking in the NHC right now with a warning only extending to the FL/AL line with a fast moving system like this. I just have this feeling that Pensacola has a better chance of hurricane conditions than west of New Orleans, where the warning extends to.

Me and the family gonna stay and ride out. We stayed during Ivan the terrible and was like a war zone the next morning. I am hoping not to have another storm in my lifetime like Ivan.

I am guessing a category 2 at landfall, but a 3 is a very real possibility. I shutter to think beyond that.

I thought for sure they would stretch the hurricane warning further East with the last advisory...

As the NHC says, do not focus on a point for this. Most of the weather will be to the East of landfall, i.e. the Florida Panhandle.

hwrf certainly sees the strengthening...looks like to me a hair east of previous and slower an stronger at 981 as it passes the mouth of the mississippi. It still however does show a major hurricane, just back to barely a hurricane as it nears landfall which is looking like it will be somewhere in MS
