CPAC: LANE - Post-Tropical

ASCAT data showed that LANE has maintained a well-defined circulation with maximum sustained winds of around 45 knots to the east of its center. Looking at the convective structure at satellite imagery, I think it may be classified as a subtropical storm.

Is it frontal though? If not, then it reminds me quite a bit of Fausto 02 (I’m showing my age here). Fausto redeveloped north of the Hawaiian Islands.

Is Lane still alive? Based on what I can tell, it is - and looks to be almost a hurricane. Analyzed T4.0-4.5 from it but estimating it with 60 kt thinking it may not be mixing down. Based on the analysis of OPC graphics, I would consider it an extension of Lane and not a new system...I was able to track the low continuously.

Went back to the UNOFFICIAL track and added 4 days to it, including as a tropical cyclone reborn.

There's a hurricane out in the Pacific and there's not even being models run on it as an invest.

I conservatively estimate it at 60 kt, thinking it may not be mixing down as much (if T4.0 was the correct analysis).

I would think because of Lanes current look they might add more track to this post season
