This seems like a rare time where the onshore reports are coming in slightly stronger compared to the aircraft data. Very strong gust of 106 mph recently recorded at Cape Lookout

The BP canopy finally toppled and broke away on Jeff Piotrowski's stream...he's in Snead's Ferry north of Topsail Beach.

As mentioned before, this very slow moving large Cat 2 Hurricane is producing a storm surge similar to at least a smaller Cat 3 hurricane that would be have been moving faster.

Currently at Wilmington , we've been measuring sustained winds around 30mph, and max gust so far has been 63mph, with 0.61 inches of rain. In our CWA, highest rainfall observed so far is in Surf City with 4.98in. ILM's 63mph is highest inland gust recorded in the area so far.
