City of New Bern just sent this image out showing what areas of town are flooded. I also added map with river where it should be to give you perspective.

Florence has really been packing a punch today despite her weakening. It doesn't matter though. A Cat 2 is bad enough, but the momentum and energy already established contributing to the storm surge you would see with a Cat 3+ makes it a force not to be reckon with, as Mark Sudduth's cameras have been showing. Radar shows a well formed hurricane (structure wise), while infrared has improved since earlier. And Recon is showing another bend to the west again (stair stepping?)

I really feel for the people in the Carolinas and pray that they still have homes and business to go back too. In some places TWC and Fox have been reporting from still have power despite over 100,000+ people without electric. Still holding on so far.

So basically the whole city is under water.

Thank you Artist. I am having a hard time getting the images to load. Following New Bern on Twitter and it doesn't sound good.

The streams I've seen thus far certainly don't compare to Harvey last year.

Opinions expressed by this poster are purely conjecture on his part and have no basis in reality. As such, taking any advice from me would be foolish, and potentially deadly.

From what I gather this has a greater storm surge than your average cat 3.

Um if you expect this thing to be at this intensity 2-4 days from now I'm not sure what to tell you.

I was speaking wind wise, the winds have been pretty underwhelming on the streams in watching.

A small measure of revenge for Mother Nature after the Gulf spill.

The gas station is probably owned a franchisee (small business owner), so it really doesn't do anything to BP corporate.

Wow. Good thing he moved. Wasn't he live with TWC about an hour ago? The power went out just as he signed off and conditions at the time were going downhill fast. Wind was 32 mph with gusts to 52.

The surge has a long way to go yet, unfortunately. I don’t believe anyone is actually on the islands filming where the major surge is coming in. New Bern or Oreintal, sorry don’t remember which, has a surge so far close to 9 feet, from what I’ve heard and photos.

110MPH is totally lower than 140 MPH, so yeah it isn't as intense as Harvey.

They way this storm is moving, the wind is not the main event.

Except Harvey wasn't 140 MPH.
