It seems the 11AM discussion from NHC still insists on Leslie making landfall as a ex-tropical. If Leslie indeed makes landfall as a tropical cyclone, would they issue a hurricane landfall statement?

I believe we can already see the center on the Portuguese radar:

Cold front has definitely caught up with it, although it appears to still be warm core it is frontal.

Link for the portuguese radar:

https://www.ipma.pt/pt/otempo/obs.remote/index.jsp

it seems the center is becoming elongated because of the extratropical transition.

This post was probably an opinion of mine, and in no way is official. Please refer to http://www.hurricanes.gov for official tropical analysis and advisories.

My website, with lots of tropical wx graphics, including satellite and recon: http://cyclonicwx.com

No, and it's never even been particularly close until now. Vince was still tropical when it made landfall in southern Spain in 2005, but it was only of tropical depression strength.

Reports of 109mph winds in Portugal. Looks like Leslie left a mess.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/10 ... pain-storm

Leslie truly a landmark storm for a country that doesn't see many of them like this. I don't think Portugal is represented on the WMO hurricane retirement committee, but I could be wrong (because of the Azores), so I doubt there's much of a chance of retirement.
