So what would cause such a turn back due south into those mountains?

Currently there's a bit of a blocking pattern to the north, which is creating weak steering currents:

I appreciate the explanation!

12z Euro ensembles, a lot more disagreement between them than on last night's run.

Can anyone with a weathermodels.com subscription see what the 12z parallel Euro does? Not sure what time it comes out (and forgot it existed until Philippe Papin tweeted the 00z run).

Still waiting for it. If someone doesn't share it before hand, I'll post.

18z ICON is keeping TD3 down in the BoC a lot longer this run, it could end up further west due to ridging expected to build in previous model runs and the storm so much further south.

You need to host the image somewhere and the grab a BBCode for forums. Imgur will give you a BBCode link if you upload to it.

If some of these models turn out to be true, SW Louisiana will be getting a lot of rain from this system, yes we are in drought like conditions, but these models suggest a lot of severe flooding. So I will going do my crabbing Wednesday morning since it looks like we will have to wait a few weeks with all the fresh water intrusion hindering the fishing and crabbing after this system passes.

GFS has 03L off the coast of LA by D5.

NHC still has it in the SW GOMEX.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

That's probably 94L if it verifies.

This is going to be one of the strangest systems I've ever seen in over 20 years of this stuff. It has it dancing around inside Mexico for a few days. I wonder if it'll emerge back out.
