Probably the first Cape Verde system to make it all the way across in 2020?

Got a feeling this thread is going to be a really long one. Let the games begin.

If this develops, it will without a doubt do what Gonzalo couldn't.

Had a feeling an invest designation would come the next day or so, but I wasn't expecting it quite this soon.

Agreed, especially with 0% in 2 days. They generally start from 20% to 40% in 2 days.

Maybe developing sooner than expected?

Possibly. The Euro and ICON runs have development as early as 72 hours out. It will be interesting to see if the NHC bumps up the odds of genesis at 8 pm, maybe up to medium for 5 days.

I am neither a meteorology student nor a professional, I'm just a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

This is the system we're really going to need to keep our eyes on for the next few weeks.

One of the most impressive July TWs I have ever seen. Cloud tops to -80C over SSTs often too cold for TCG this time of year.

Sure smells like it. The overwhelming signals we have been getting for so long now may be too much for std basin climo to keep down.

If Hanna does not get to Hurricane then future Isaias will be the first hurricane of the season.

The low-level circulation looks quite a bit north of all that convection, more embedded within the SAL, void of most convection. It will need to fend of the SAL and wrap some of that deeper convection. Let’s see how the convection looks in a couple of days.
