JTWC revised its 12Z intensity estimate from 55kts to 70kts, likely based on a SMAP pass at that time which found winds between 70-80kts.

Check out how the HWRF implodes this due to easterly shear, lol

There's an pinhole eye now, a bit weak at N likely due to shear. Biparjoy is certainly at 85 - 95 kts now.

Getting VIS now. Very compact system. Can see where the eye wants to pop out as well.

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

Convection is struggling to rotate out of upshear and 12z GFS is less enthusiastic about the shear vector relaxing due to a more zonally oriented ULAC.

How is this still 85 kt? Looks like it’s weakened significantly over the last day.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.
