Central Gulf Coast Resident-Report your pet's behavior
I heard that pets act strange when a hurricane is coming. They just sense it. I don't have my dog anymore. So, I can't relate anymore. Are any of your pets or any animals in your neighborhood been acting stranger than usual?

I know what you mean on the pets. My two dogs were very odd before Ivan and with Dennis.
They were acting the same way on friday. I will try to find this post later this Am when they are up and I can watch them. People may make fun of this post but it's true about the pets
can you send the ferret over here on sunday , I might need help

Ants
Hi, I know it's not a pet, but we had ants decide to pick yesterday to move into our house. Normaly when they do this, it's just a small trickle to get at the dog food in the garage. This time, it was a full out invasion, several diffrent tracks and in the main house, not the garage. Seeing that gave me a pause and a bit of an uneasy feeling. Take it for what it's worth. I'm just west of NO, in St Charles Parish (I'm one of those crazy people that lives between the river and the lake.)

I don't know about the other animals, but the humans on this board are sure acting wierd.
I saw 3 sails looking like they were racing up one of the pilings of my house yesterday. I'm not kidding it was the strangest thing. But I grew board watching them after a few riveting millimeters.
Okay, yes I’m making a little fun, but you have to realize that many animals take their cues from their human masters, and that we might be reading a little too much into animals strange behavior.

Remember....most pets pick up on our emotions and they act accordingly. I believe that if you are nervous, they will be nervous. They are probably saying... Please don't leave me behind if you evacuate! PLEASE protect your pets as you would your family! take them with you! board them in a safe shelter or take them to your destination. DO NOT leave them outside chained up or in a fence because if the winds and flooding come to your area, they have no way to escape. Also, if you HAVE to leave them home, do not lock them in a room. Let them roam the house so that they can find a higher of safer place to be. In the last few years, there has been a major shift in reasoning and there are now more shelters set up for animals. PLEASE PROTECT THEM TOO!
