I have had nothing but problems since this morning when I clicked on that stupid link. I haven't been able to browse or check email. May have to get a technician to come and fix it. I am so upset. Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

After I received the emails, I thought something was wrong.

I would suggest running any anti-spyware or ad-aware program that you might have. I ran Lavasoft ad-aware after checking the unusual emails and had to get rid of some corrupt files.

Could just coming here cause problems for your PC (it seems some people here are having problems), or did you have to open the email/click the link inside it? I didn't open the email at all, but I came here around 10:50 am (GMT -7)...should I be worried?

Everything seems fine on my PC, I ran my virus and spyware and all came back normal.
I don't think there was any viruses attached to that link, site, or emails.

Thanks Chad and Marshall for clearing everything up, I was a wee bit worried this morning, you guys are awesome!! :D :D

FWIW, I thought this little bit of info might help some people. The person who assumed earlier that because the site's homepage used a dirty word that it is a hip-hop site was taking quite a jump. I signed up for the site to see if it was what I thought, and indeed it is a site for hackers. Specifically, they are interested in hacking AOL. This may be why some are experiencing problems on their computer and others are not (many PCs have AOL components installed whether they are actually AOL members or not). The members seem quite amateur and I wouldn't worry about credit card info or anything like that if I were any of you.

What will likely fix all of your problems is this (for Windows XP users):

Close all internet screens
Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Network and Internet Connections
Click Internet Options
Click Delete Cookies and wait while they are deleted
Click Delete Files and wait while these are deleted

This will get rid of any auto-login information you have, so make sure you have your passwords so that you can log back in to any sites you normally are logged into automatically. However, it should fix your problems with the computer running slow.

Had 4 e-mails for this, 3 of which came between 4:39 and 4:41 this morning, then another at 9:09am. All of which were the same link. I did not click, knowing if there was something going on, it'd be HERE first!

Also, I had to log in again, which ordinarily I have automatic login.

Thanks to Chad and Marshall for getting everything back to normal.

And this is why there is just code on that scroll at present?

Thanks for all the info, all ya'll. I was wondering why I was being sent several e mails for some silly site. For any of you who are afraid you may have a virus or some kind of spy ware or ad ware, there are a few really good on line free virus scans by accredited companies. Try http://www.symantec.com or http://www.trendmicro.com. If anything it will make you feel better.
Interesting to know that some idiots are trying to recreate AOLHELL.Something from many years ago. I wish them luck. Guess they used our forum to take a practice run. Shame Shame.

Well, I haven't been on since sometime yesterday evening,
so, I missed the Big Bang. I do believe that my e-mail address
is still listed as Yahoo on here, even though those of you
whom I e-mail more often know my main e-mail address. I can't
seem to manage to log on to Yahoo (page not found), so,
I guess the slackers...er, pardon - hackers messed up
Yahoo, too. Most of that mail is from catalog companies, so,
when I do get on, I'll just delete all mail.

Thanks for fixing the mess, folks!

Thanks a lot for getting the problems fixed!!! :D

But...not everything's back to normal, still one problem:

When I go to the flash games (the games link), this is what shows up:

General Error

Couldn't obtain game data

The flash games will be down for a bit. Due to the hack we had to install an upgrade to the board so some of the Mods won't work correctly until we reinstall them. Sorry for the inconvenience.

When I was posting the observations for my area, I saw that the HTML is disabled. I'm guessing it's a temporary thing until the hacking problem's completely solved.
