Have to agree with ya, Floyd. Somehow or other I think I could've handled "George" better than Georges...LOL. I know, sounds parochial, but like you, I have nothing against the name per se; just doesn't smack of a good name for a 'cane IMO.

Hey, Floyd, other than yourself, have you ever known anyone "cool" named Floyd? Wasn't that barber in Andy Griffith named Floyd? :D

My real name Isnt Floyd I just made my screename hurricane Floyd because it was the first full blown hurricane I remember and the worst I was in

some other cool names

Mitch (name sounds as mean as the storm)
Epsilon (a letter to name your kids after)
Camille (nice mean sound to it)
Gloria (name sounds meaner then the storm was)
Jeanne (Mean Jeanne how perfect)
Cindy (sounds nasty)
Issac (I can see this as a 5)
Tammy (Just like the name in this case)
Gertrude (fitting for a hurricane Gert-RUDE!
Iniki (has a nice ring to it)

Some more bad ones

Bob (how scary. not!)
Ethel (thats a good hurricane name on the day someone covivinces me it was ever a cat 5)
Fifi (even if it killed 5000 people it still sounds fruity for a hurricane)
Dolly (get real)
Fabian (one of the lamest ones ever, makes me think of fabio as someone previously mentioned, I got much better things to think about)

forgot the comments for my first list

Cool

Ivan (totally awsome, Ivan the terrible, just perfect)
Floyd (I named my pet Rabbit Floyd when I was 4, nice of him to pay me a visit from beyond the grave)
Isabel (Pretty name, intimmidateing at the same time, it always jumped out at me when I looked at that list)
Katrina (same as with Isabel, I always thought that it was destined for "greatness" in hurricane world)
Claudette (cool name)

lame

Henri (somehow I find this name hard to take seriously and even harder to avoid laughing at it)
Phillippe (before I saw it on the list, if someone told me this was a name I'd tell them they were nuts)
Georges (I always thought it was a plural form of George, took me 3 days to get it right)
Gaston (this is the most intimminating name on this list, and it aint very intimminating at all)
Christobal (before I saw it on the list, if someone told me this was a name I would have had them commited)

with those being foriegn names of course they sound strange to me, like a american name would sound to say a korean person, in a way they all have a uniqe ring to them, some of them are quite cool outside of hurricane world

Gustav ( :roflmao: )
Noel (umm, suuuuuuuuure)

sorry but I think that the only reason some of the names sound "cool" or "right for a hurricane name" is because of the hurricanes history. look at the majority of the names... the main reason they sound "right" is because they are the names of the big storms and have been used over and over again so that it simply flows...

I suppose there ARE some exceptions though
