What size generator will power a small window unit a.c. (not 220 just regular) and a fridge? Anyone have any idea, info would be appreciated.

Re: Generator Question
A/C units and refrigerators vary quite a bit in their bower consumption. A 5000BTU A/C unit will typically use about 1500 Watts. A Refrigerator (just a guess) will use a little less than that. You will want to get a generator that will put out a continuous load of at least 10% over that you are using.

There are energy use calculators on
http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com
But a 3500 Watt generator will work, just don't try turning both on at the same time. Your best bet is 5000 watts.

I agree with the above statement about the 5k genrator. That size is just a perfect capacity for the average home. Freezer, Fridge, 5k a/c. lights, TV. Just remember; any motor or compressor takes about 2 1/2 times run power to start. The start up is a breif period but important. Also buy a good quality unit. Honda, B & S, etc to name a few. Qulaity will pay big during a long period without the Power Co.......Nothing worse than having a gen that does not work when needed.....
