Re: TS Humberto: Threat Area: Texas, Louisiana
Practically nothing here in The Woodlands. I can see Humberto to the SE but here just a few scud clouds skipping by. No wind or rain to speak of. We get an occasional breeze from the NE but that's it.

Texas City here... steady rain, occasionally the rain gets harder, occasionally the wind gusts. Mostly it's a typical rainy day so far. Street hasn't flooded yet, and regular ol' thunderstorms will do that much.

Re: TS Humberto: Threat Area: Texas, Louisiana
It's been raining all day here in Beaumont, with a few brief breaks earlier today. If we get what they say we could get, it's going to be a mess! The ground is completely saturated and there's standing water everywhere.

We have several school closings to report.
Lamar University, L-I-T, and Liberty ISD, Dayton ISD, West Hardin ISD, Hardin ISD and Sabine Pass ISD will close Thursday, as well Living Waters Christian Academy in Beaumont.
Also, Chambers County employees should not report to work until 10 a.m. Thursday. If conditions are still inclement, call the county emergency information line at 409-267-3737 to find out if you still need to report to work.
I'll post more if I see them.

From KPLC Website Lake Charles
September 12, 2007
Reported by KPLC Staff
Delta Tech will not be holding night classes tonight and asks that students watch the media for further information in the days ahead.
There will be no school on Thursday September 13, 2007 in Cameron Parish.
Grand Lake High School and the Cameron Parish School Board Central Office will re-open on Friday, September 14, 2007.
Since Hackberry, Johnson Bayou, and South Cameron High School are on 4 day week schedules, classes at those three schools will resume as usual on Monday September 17, 2007. However, Friday, September 21, 2007 will now be a full day of school for all students in Cameron Parish to replace academic time lost to this and previous closures.
This Thursday's closing is due to projected abnormally high tides from Tropical Storm Humberto covering roadways and low-level bridges, as well as projected tropical storm winds and localized flooding.

Yes I agree. Those from Galveston to Sabine Pass need to treat it as if a Hurricane Warning is in effect, regardless of the official details. (I suggested a Hurricane Watch at 7 pm - good call Derek on catching this!)

The brief hard gusts are picking up here in Port Arthur. I'm afraid a lot of people went to bed and will be waking up shortly very surprised. I went to buy some batteries and the people at the check out didn't even know there was a storm in the Gulf. Now they will be waking to a hurricane.

Good thing you told them! This will probably come down to who stayed up the latest...

Re: Tropical Storm Humberto: Threat Area: Texas, Louisiana
Aerial photos of the damage in the High Island, Port Arthur area are looking really bad. Many homes de-roofed and most of the manufactured homes appear to be blown apart. Major damage to large signs including some with metal supports bent over and of course lots of trees into homes and power lines. This area has yet to recover from Rita and now this!!! Truly sad!!!

No surprise, last of the light rain at my home in Northern Harris County was about 5 pm, never more than breezy, and now, blue skies with some very humble looking fair weather cu.

Do you know where we can see this coverage on the internet, national news hasn't mentioned much about Humberto all day it seems.
