The AF plane should be leaving when the NOAA plane gets in there. I don't see a need to have both obs in the recon thread at the same time.

Latest VDM shows the pressure has dropped to 984mb. But the eye still remains slightly tilted, which is probably we aren't seeing this storm go through rapid intensification yet.

This TEAM coverage of active recon is the very best I have ever seen - AWESOME job guys!!!
Can anyone share a link for the GE file that shows wind barbs?
I have the day off tomorrow, so I can help with HDOBS or GE plots.... just let me know - these shifts can be long - I know (I worked on plots for Dean's landfall last year).

The Air Force plane turned around for a bit. I'm not so sure they aren't possibly trying to determine the tropical storm force wind field so they can adjust that in a future advisory.

They probably are skimming the 35 knot region, yes...but as far as penetrations? They are most likely done, and will be heading home very shortly.
