Looking at WSR-88D from KMOB, the moisture plume in George and Jackson counties in Mississippi and into extreme southwest Mobile County in SW Alabama extends 120 miles into the Gulf. This is very heavy rain, often intense thunderstorms, and a producer of multiple tornado warnings. In addition to the tornado threat, the storms are dropping 3 inches of rain per hour.

The funnel cloud I watched pass in front of my house this morning may have briefly touched down out over the Bay to my NW. It amazed me how fast it was moving along.
