MED: (Sub)Tropical Depression over the eastern Mediterranean

First system-In a warm contest, interesting little warm core cyclone over Mediterranean sea

The cut-off over the far eastern Mediterranean continues to move eastwards.
Departing upper low still affects most parts of Turkey. Winds at all levels constantly decrease during the forecast period but remain strong enough for organized thunderstorms (e.g. DLS around 15m/s and augmented directional shear). Scattered thunderstorms are forecast with a large hail/severe wind gust risk as subcloud layer is well mixed with LCLs between 1-2km. Thunderstorms continue well into the night hours.

An impressive little system, warm waters, not much shear, but theres no convergence at the surface and no upper level support either, its just a cluster of storms.

Its more impressive than 90L though

from a very quick look... this doesnt look like it'll have enough time to become a depression... but this is far better organized than 90L

The low have 1008 hpa, unfortunately the European maps not good for identification little mediterranean storms (real winds,pressure,core,ecc).

I suspect given the area it was in its highly probable that it was a warm core system by the time it reached its peak, SST's are warm enough as well it seems, these mediterranean systems do seem to occur fairly often don't they!

The little low circulation keeps rotating even though weakened..
but it is clearly a depression, look loop sat
You often dont consider the particularity of Mediterranean climate..
the big warm air and flux from north Africa helps depressions to become in warm core system.

the reason why I cannot say that it is a depression is because of the nature of the definition of tropical depression. I would need an IR loop to be sure.

Closed low is there... not sure about the organized convection persisting around the center

Looking at the loop, there doesn't seems to be anything at the surface, it seems to have been a mid-level or upper-level feature. Something that you need for tropical development is persistent convection over a LLC for at least 24 hours or more. This system just forms and poofs away. No tropical or subtropical system in my opinion.
